The Best Hostel in Bacolod For Backpackers and Budget Travellers

Updated: Mar 25, 2019

If you are looking for the best accommodation for backpackers and/or budget travellers then I would like to recommend staying at The Hostelry in Bacolod City. It is located at Roli's Arcade Building on La Salle Ave. Bacolod, Negros Occidental.

How to commute to The Hostelry from Bredco Port (Bacolod Pier)

I came from Iloilo River Wharf in Lapuz District, Iloilo and took a ferry via Weesam Express going to Bacolod Port. It will take around 1 hour to reach Bacolod by sea.

From Bacolod Port, you can ride a tricycle going to SM Bacolod or you can take a taxi once you get off the ferry straight to the hostel. Tricycle Fare is around Php 10-15 for shared trip. Just tell the tricycle driver that you are transferring to the jeepney terminal going to La Salle Avenue.

I hopped on a jeepney going to La Salle Avenue. Just inform the driver that you need to get off at Roli's Arcade on La Salle Avenue. It's near Jollibee and Mcdonald's. Fare is around Php 10.

I made a reservation offline prior to my stay since their accommodation is not yet available from online booking sites last year (2018) and I paid it through BPI online transfer for only Php 420/night (bunk bed - shared room).

Rates (2018)

They offer various types of beds from Twin, Matrimonial, Single Shared and Bunk Beds. I booked only one (1) night and stayed in a bunk bed room type.

They have a lounge on the second floor where you can read, chat with your friends or do your business related tasks on your computer. It was quiet when I visited the lounge and it was neat and tidy.

Hallway on the 2nd Floor

They will provide one clean (big) towel and one (1) soap for you, locker, a pillow, blanket and locker. The padlock for the locker is not yet included. You have to bring your own or you can rent with them for the price of P60. What I also like about their beds are the curtains for your privacy, it has a side lamp and a power outlet beside your bed with a Bible. The air-condition during my stay functioned perfectly. Perfect for the hot weather in Bacolod.

I tried to sneak-in in the other rooms and they were very spacious and I don't feel like it's a budget accommodation at all.

I also love their bathroom! It's definitely neat as a new pin and designed with modern accent. It's equipped with a big mirror, bathroom tissue, hot and cold shower and clean toilet with bidet. They also have a good water flow on the second floor.

Evaluation: I would definitely stay again with them! Aside from the rooms being affordable, they have clean linens, beddings, bathroom and floors. It's near the convenience stores, restaurants (Jollibee, Mcdonald's etc), bars, hospital, ATMs, and drugstores.

They also have 24/7 security guard to help you with any of your concern and very accommodating staff to greet and assist you.
